Principal's Message

Welcome from Nicholson Elementary School

Nicholson Elementary serves a vibrant, rural community stretching from Castledale and Harrogate in the south, northwards to the outskirts of Golden, B.C.   This beautiful place where we live, work, and play is the traditional territory of the Secwepemc and the Ktunaxa people, and a crossover territory of many Indigenous groups. We also have more than 200 years of Métis history in Golden, and our area is home to the Métis Nation Columbia River community.

We are part of Rocky Mountain School District No. 6, and we have a student population of 101 students enrolled in Kindergarten to Grade 7.  We are a Leader in Me school, one of approximately 20 in British Columbia.  As a Leader in Me school we learn, model, and practice Stephen Covey's 8 Habits of Highly Effective People.

To the right you will see our Nicholson Elementary vision statement.  A vision statement is the foundation of a school.  It states our aspirations, drives our decisions, and guides our goals. Our school motto which was developed with the support of the Nicholson School Community,

Learn  Love  Lead

expresses our intention to learn together as a community, support each other to insure our individual and combined success and lead ourselves by positively contributing to the classroom, school and community.

I believe that every child holds a greatness within them and our role is to help them to discover their gifts.  My role as the principal is to help create and support an environment where every child feels safe, happy and supported so that their learning can continue to grow.  As principal I will do all I can each day to support the journeys of our students, staff, and families.  If there is anything I can do to support you or your child along the way, please let me know.

Sincerely,
Margo Reinders
